Super fun and really cheap! 3 chanels give you full directional control for chasing the cat around (or your wife, which I personally find very exciting!.....No, I didn't mean YOUR wife.)
These metal choppers with the folding blades are remarkably crash tollerant which I have a lot of experience with. You might have a fighting chance outdoors on a calm day, but for indoor flying fun, this is the best value we can find, and truuuust me, we've looked, and we keep looking.

The Critters gathered their spare change together and made a special purchase, and as usual they're passing along the savings to you. The instructions say this was designed for indoor use, but not really so much. My tape measure says 15" long, the transmiter has a telescoping 40"" antenna with a range of 100+ feet. Yes, you can fly it indoors, but not in your 10X12 bedroom.
Serially, this is a good 'transition' chopper between the indoor mini/micros and the hellaciously expensive outdoor models. You can fly indoors if you have a very large room, and outdoors on a faily calm day. Now, it has to be set up properly or it'll just hover and spin like some stupid...hovering, spinning...thing. check out the set up link on the details page. It has an onboard tail rotor trim (euphemistically referred to as an adjustable gyro), and since it's 2 channel it's not complicated to fly and, set up properly, you don't need a dead calm day to fly. It's surprizingly crash tollerant and bounces nicely. An excellent way to take your chopper experience outdoors without a major inverstment.

Here's some cheap thrills! Standard counter-rotating props and balancers you find on most small hellicopters, except the upper prop is fixed to the body and the body rotates!, which makes for an intertaining LED light show. It's a simple single channel deal so no fancy stunt fliying, but anybody can fly it. You CAN fly it outdoors in little or no breeze, and it's less susceptible to breezes than the micro indoor helicopters. It's remarkably stable, meaning it can bounce off the ceiling or floor or brush the props against objects and not go unstable. You can even blow it or tap the blades with your hand, (The blades are flexible) which is the result of the gyroscopic stability of the rotating body. Ya see.....well, never mind. It's an ingenious design, and surprisingly entertaining even for a seasoned chopper pilot like myself. HA!
